Time and tide greet the sky, towards the Isle

Many of my paintings are created from memory using small drawings or paintings en plein air as references.  I enjoy the speed of en plein air work but also the time invested in studio works where layers are built on top of each other until the painting is brought forward to completion.

I very much enjoyed the forming of this sky. Colour, like light is never flat to me, it bounces around bringing shades of green background hills into sea blue foregrounds and sending each of these skyward.

The iconic red roof at the Famine Village at the Isle of Doagh can be picked out here as well as the pyramid sand dune at Lagg, which is one of the tallest sand dunes in Europe.
