Atlantic Symphony (fine art print)

Atlantic Symphony grew from watching the Atlantic off the Donegal coast, especially on those days when the weather seems to move through sea and sky at once. The light changes by the minute and the whole view can shift before you have properly taken it in.

I built the painting in layers, using broad colour, sweeping marks and scratched lines to catch some of that movement. Quieter passages sit beside rougher ones, much like the sea itself: calm for a moment, then suddenly restless.

I keep returning to the Atlantic because it has a way of putting everything else into proportion. Salt in the air, wind across the water, the horizon opening out in front of you - these are familiar things, but they never feel exactly the same twice.

The painting holds that pull for me: movement, memory and the feeling of coming back to the coast.
