Cloudscape I

Description

To the very bottom right of the painting: the mark here reminds me of a tiny lighthouse and a breaking wave.

Clouds and their formation have always fascinated me.  Cumulonimbus (from Latin cumulus ‘swell’, and nimbus ‘cloud’.  My favourite kind.  Like candyfloss in motion across the sky, morphing into faces and animals along the way.

Dense, towering vertical clouds. Water vapor condensing and sinking. Like droplets of water on a rain facing window. Moved and carried by an invisible force on currents high above us.

Ice crystals, snow and hail, lightning. Such an expression of energy and raw natural unemotional frenzy.  A powerful cycle of giving and taking, neither good nor bad, simply existing.

Cumulonimbus can form alone, in clusters, or along squall lines. Fast moving cold fronts with pressure building until it bursts.

Acceptable, natural and then dissipating.
