Island – Oileán

This Island for me is ‘Glasedy’ has inspired many writers, poets and artists. It’s name comes from two Irish words.  ‘Glas’ meaning green and ‘éadach’ meaning cloth.  Indeed it looks like it has a green tablecloth draped over it when the sun hits it just right.  It can be seen from Ballyliffin to Malin Head at different angles around the Inishowen 100 and the Wild Atlantic Way.

The waters around the island change colour from a deep Prussian blue, to Viridian green and Turquoise blue depending on the light and the day that’s in it.
