North Wind Requiem (fine art print)

North Wind Requiem came from the last minutes of sunset, when low light caught the underside of gathering cloud and gave the sky an almost otherworldly look.

Some of the cloud forms began to resemble figures - almost angelic, but never fixed enough to become literal. Their edges held the last warmth of the day while the blues around them deepened.

This hour has a particular mood. Colour drains away, the temperature drops and the landscape seems to quieten as darkness approaches.

The word requiem fitted the sense of farewell. I imagined the north wind carrying a low lament through dune grass and open gates, with the sea sounding in the distance and birds settling into shelter.

What interested me was the beauty of something already disappearing: wind, cloud and light briefly coming together before the sky returned to darkness.
