Pilgrim’s Soul (fine art print)

Pilgrim's Soul is seen from the shallows, barefoot, looking across the water towards a distant headland.

The sea is cool around your feet and deepens into blue and purple beneath a darkening sky. Far away, a narrow lemon light breaks through at the horizon and draws the eye out towards the land.

Standing in the sea like this is strangely grounding. You feel the tide, the sand moving under your feet and the cold of the water, while your attention travels miles away.

I liked that tension between being firmly in one place and looking towards somewhere distant. The light almost becomes a destination, though it is fragile and just out of reach.

The title came from that impulse to keep looking and moving. The body is held by the Atlantic while the eye follows the last light ahead.
