Trawbreaga Lights (fine art print)

Trawbreaga Lights came from a summer evening when low sun caught clouds to the east and a high tide spread their colour across the bay.

Sunlit cloud sits above deepening blue while its reflection runs through the tidal shallows. For a while, sky and water almost merge, with only the distant shoreline and the first lights of Carndonagh separating them.

Trawbreaga Bay is a protected landscape with rich birdlife supported by mudflats, sandbanks and sheltered water. A pair of egrets has even made a home there, alongside the geese, waders and other birds that gather through the seasons.

Even when the birds are no longer obvious in the fading light, you are aware of that wider life continuing across the flats and channels.

Against the size of the bay, the lights of Carndonagh are tiny, but reassuring - signs of houses, roads and people carrying on beyond the water.
