Trawbreaga (fine art print)

This small painting shows Trawbreaga Bay at spring dawn, when the first cool light in the sky is picked up by the water.

The bay feels surprisingly large in the early morning. Colour gathers close to the horizon before the land has fully woken. The air is still cold, but longer days are coming, and the dawn chorus has begun.

The bay here is always being redrawn by its tides. Water moves in and out across the broad shallows, changing the shape of the bay from hour to hour and reflecting every change in the sky.

I wanted this small painting to catch that first uncertain light before morning takes hold - the point where night gives way and the bay slowly becomes visible again.
